Top of the morning folks! Hope youre having a lovely day, or night, wherever you’re reading from. We’ve gone through two interviews already and I have to confess that it’s been fun getting to know these amazing writers and their different personalities.
Bloggers appreciation week is still going strong and today, we are going to be featuring another amazing writer. Sit tight and remember how it’s done, share the love and check out their blogs when you are done with this post.
Tell us all about you please?
My name is Sarah. I am 37 years old. I live in Kansas with my husband and two children. By day, I work in physician clinic administration and in the beginning of June I will have been at my workplace for 18 years!
Wow! Could you tell us a little about your blog?
My blog is www.momminintherealworld.com. I write about being a mom, my struggles with anxiety, stuff that I find fun or fascinating, and my dabbles in creativity (I paint and work with mixed media).
How did you enter the blogging/writing sphere?
I started my blog three years ago because I was looking for a creative outlet after I had my daughter. In the beginning it was more of an online journal where I could sort of just anonymously express myself, but it has evolved over time into much more. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing at first but I am quite proud of what I have created; my husband is the techie, so for me to have created this all by myself is an accomplishment.
I have always loved writing and since I was a kid I’ve always had stories brewing in the back of my mind; I have yet to finish a novel though. I love blogging because a blog post can be fully formed in such a short time compared to writing a novel- more of an instant gratification type thing, I guess.
What are tour writing processes? Do you plan every detail or are you more of a wake-up-at-two-am-because-you-just-got-an-idea type?
Most of the time my writing is spontaneous. I wish I could say that I am a planner when it comes to blogging, but usually I start off with great intentions and then end up with a notebook full of barely legible scribbles to decipher and turn into posts.
Which of your blog posts was your favorite to write and what inspired it?
One of my favorite posts is “Being a Nerd and Owning it, or Just be Yourself.” It describes my lifelong nerdiness and how it always felt like it made me an outsider- it seems like at this point in time it is “cool” to be a nerd, but when I was growing up I tried to hide who I was and my interests. Now I have come to accept and celebrate being myself. https://wordpress.com/post/momminintherealworld.com/1185
What are your favorite things to read?
I love post-apocalyptic fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Stephen King is my all-time favorite author and I have almost every single one of his books.
What are your other interests apart from writing?
I love to read, paint, cook, and spend time with my family.
Do you prefer cats or dogs?
Cat person. I like that cats will totally ignore you. Dogs seem to love me for some reason, I think they can sense that I don’t like them.
Now to the fun stuff. You have been given three wishes to be granted magically. What are your wishes?
1: Enough money to be able to not have to work and travel around the world,
2: To travel with The Doctor in the Tardis,
3: Delicious calorie-free, fat-free chocolate
What fictional world would you travel to if given the chance?
I would visit the United Federation of Planets and be a crew-member on the U.S.S. Enterprise.
What are your greatest fears?
Losing my teeth, Losing a family member, and spiders
Who are your three (or less) favorite bloggers?
Crystal Paine from Money Saving Mom and Richard Nayhem from Eye Prefer Paris
